  1. Lovin' the scrabble idea. Perhaps you could speed it up and crop perhaps. We really liked the lighting in the scrabble vid. You could also livin it up a bit through color, different camera angles, and inappropriate words. Maybe extend the video so that it has more of a climax.

  2. Heather,

The abstraction clay drawing video reminds me of an video game landscape. Very geometric, with things floating in the sky that change and transform. Using clay as a drawing medium has a lot of potential... it almost forces you to abstract your idea into something that is easy to from in a 3D medium, but makes sense in a 2D photograph. Have you watched the Gumbasia movie... this reminds me of Gumbasia, which was created by the person who created Gumbi, and is sort of an abstract psychdelic landscape. Ideas for revision/variation... if you are a fan of video games, you could draw inspiration from old video games. You could also play with time in this piece-- backwards, forwards, faster, slower. Also from the idea of video games... scenes repeat, and come back when the character loses and starts over again.

The scrabble video also has lots of potential. I love the idea of playing with words. Maybe you break out of the strick scrabble style of crossword words, and start using the tiles like a scrolling message board. Or maybe you start using words elsewhere... drawn on the sidewalk with chalk, written on paper, on the whiteboard. Also, what message do communicate? Something that is stream of consciousness, that draws the viewer along.... or some piece of prose or poetry... For an example of a stream of consciousness work, listen to CNN Concatenated on Youtube (listen to the words).

Heather, the first animation was a really clever use of clay! It could be either abstract or a new medium. Maybe, since it ended with the "world" you could continue on with that approach. You could add more planets so it could be a solar system?? Very good job and we really enjoyed watching it! :)

Heather, the second animation was really fun! It was a really clever use of using scrabble letters and maybe you could have it doing conversations. Maybe two scrabble boards are having a conversation??? The PLEASE word when it went backwards helped with the progression of time.
