  1. Julian and Morgan:
We really liked how the flower transformed in the end. it seemed like you were trying to express the idea of creativity coming to life.
The flower videos speed worked really well with the idea of transformation, maybe add more content like showing the flowers being painted.

For the Cross word, maybe have the face spew the cross words out, it would add more movement. the faces the most interesting aspects so if you make it move it will lend more activity to your piece.

If you add maybe a few more scenes like the real petals turning into a paper flower and the face speaking the movies will feel more complete

  2. The flower piece is very creative... I love the idea of combining the drawing with the real. It reminds me of what Morgan and Julian did in their drawing on the window. You could even borrow from their technique to create another chapter for your flower movie... using the window markers to draw on a flower behind a piece of glass, or in a mirror. I really like the direction that Julian and Morgan mentioned above... reversing the transformation so that the petals become drawings. You could also add a darker side to your flower video by creating stop motion photographs of a flower wilting, or shedding its petals.

I also like the crossword video, and you could go in several directions with this one. As Julian and Morgan mention, you could play up the idea of the face, and have him eat the words, or spit them out, or otherwise become a real character (think of Jan Svankmajer). Or, there is possibility for a collaboration with Heather and her scrabble... maybe you start seeing words everywere... scrabble, crossword, on the whiteboard, on street signs, typed on the screen. You could also play with the message-- is it stream of consciousness, does it make sense, does it ask questions, does it make demands of your audience, is it prose or poetry...

  3. We really enjoyed both films. The flower one was our favorite because of its originality and creative ending. Time is apparent in both films because of the forward movement (the flower growing, the puzzle changing). Both are semi complex but could be further expanded to make both the film longer and with more layer. We would recommend expanding on drawings that transform into real life objects. Perhaps play with real objects turning into images on paper. Overall both films were solid, kinda of creepy with the smiling puzzle at the end tho.
